ORGANIZATION: Alzheimer's Association
Please visit the new page to apply.

Over 180,000 North Carolina residents are currently living with Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to increase 22% by 2025. Chances of encountering someone living with dementia and/or their caregiver becomes more likely every day.
This Community Educator will lead first responders through Approaching Alzheimers: First Responder Training*** in addition to presenting on the 10 Warning Signs or Understanding Alzheimer's. The programs are already created with scripts and resources. It would be helpful if the volunteer could connect with potential partners - sheriff, police, fire, EMT, community college, dispatch, volunteers, etc.
Presenters are expected to:
Lead a program at least quarterly through staff collaboration and/or by scheduling your own presentations (faith community, nonprofit organizations, social services, etc.)
Refer attendees to the resources and programs of the Alzheimer’s Association as appropriate
Arrive on time, have reliable transportation, be comfortable with public speaking and technology
Successfully complete online training as well as individual preparation for each program

***The modification of this training from a live workshop to an online program was funding by a grant from the US Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance. The DOJ/BJA has reviewed the material and provided feedback.
