Over 210,000 North Carolina residents are currently living with Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to increase 22% by 2025. Part of the Alzheimer's Association's mission is to drive risk reduction and early detection and our free community education programs are one way to support our goal.

The role of the Community Educator is to learn and present ready-to-go programs, such as 10 Warning Signs or Understanding Alzheimer's. These are applicable to any audience and teach them about the differences between normal aging and possible signs of dementia, the difference between Alzheimer's and dementia and causes, risk factors and stages of the disease.
Educators will be able to download the powerpoint and script to practice on their own and work with the local manager to prepare.

Daytime availability a plus, to meet the request for programs

Presenters are expected to:
 Lead a program at least quarterly through staff collaboration and/or by scheduling your own presentations (faith community, nonprofit organizations, social services, guest speakers at professional or civic meetings, etc)
 Refer attendees to the resources and programs of the Alzheimer’s Association as appropriate
 Arrive on time, have reliable transportation, be comfortable with public speaking and technology
 Successfully complete online training as well as individual preparation for each program

Description

The Alzheimer's Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research.

We work on a national and local level to provide care and support for all those affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias.

As the largest nonprofit funder of Alzheimer's research, the Association is committed to advancing vital research towards methods of treatment, prevention and ultimately a cure.

The Association is the leading voice for Alzheimer's disease advocacy, fighting for critical Alzheimer's research and care initiatives at the state and federal level.
