Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: We are looking for experienced event planning volunteers to join our Event Leadership Team who can attend all committee meetings, assist with recruitment of teams, committee members, and survivors for the Relay for Life. The event planning volunteers on the Event Leadership committee will:
Attend all committee meetings and pre-event activities
Report to and correspond regularly with the chairperson for RFL
Seek approval before any expenditures are incurred for RFL
Keep records of contacts to be kept for the following year
Proper correspondence and thank you must take place following the event
RECRUIT TEAMS, COMMITTEE MEMBERS and SURVIVORS FOR RFL
Requirements:
Experience in philanthropy and non-profits a plus
Excellent time management and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects independently
MS Office proficiency
Proven experience as an events planner or organizer is a plus
Time Commitment: flexible, minimum 3+ hours each week until the completion of the project, remote volunteer role, volunteers need to be mindful of deadlines.
Age Requirement: This opportunity is for 55 and older volunteers only

Mission Statement
Relay For Life is a community-based fundraising event for the American Cancer Society and many other Cancer related institutions, societies and associations. Each year, more than 5,000 Relay For Life events take place in over twenty countries. Events are held in local communities, university campuses and in virtual campaigns. As the American Cancer Society's most successful fundraiser and the organization's signature event, the mission of Relay For Life is to raise funds to improve cancer survival, decrease the incidence of cancer, and improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their caretakers.
Description
The Relay is on May 9, 2020 from 10am-10pm at Lincoln Elementary School (2223 Plant Ave. Redondo Beach CA 90278), and I'm hoping your troop might be available and interested in being a part of it!
Our theme this year is youth-focused - with children's performances and fun family activities.
We are looking for day-of-event volunteers and teams to participate in the 2020 Beach Cities Relay For Life raising funds for cancer research, services and advocacy through ACS. You are more than welcome to share and circulate this email as well. I'm very happy to answer and questions or concerns you may have.
Gold Together Team: Only 4% of cancer research funds go towards studying pediatric cancer annually, and we want to bring awareness to this statistic and support pediatric cancer patients. There's a lot of different ways you can help with this goal! Gold Together is a new Team that must raise $5,000 and whose proceeds 100% go to pediatric cancer research. There is only one Gold Together Team for each Relay. If you know of a child that you would like to honor or memorialize, please do let me know. https://www.goldtogether.com/

Luminaria honors every life touched by cancer. You can dedicate them to a loved one lost, someone currently battling, or anyone who's overcome it. Asking people to dedicate a Luminaria in the name of a loved one is a great way to show everyone affected by cancer. It will also add to your fundraising and get you closer to raising $100 and becoming a Relay For Life Hope Club member.
