About RAPS Regional Animal Protection Society

Location:

Suite 201 - 13340 Smallwood Place, Richmond, BC V6V 1W8, CA

Mission Statement

The Regional Animal Protection Society is a registered charity that operates the RAPS Cat Sanctuary, the RAPS Adoption & Education Centre, a fostering network, social enterprise thrift stores and the full-service RAPS Animal Hospital. RAPS is proud to be a no-kill organization, which is among the reasons we have built a strong and devoted community of animal-loving allies.

Description

The Regional Animal Protection Society, a 27-year-old no-kill, animal-serving organization based in Richmond, BC, operates the RAPS Cat Sanctuary, the RAPS Adoption and Education Centre, the not-for-profit RAPS Animal Hospital and two RAPS Thrift Stores.

The RAPS Cat Sanctuary provides a forever home to over 370 + "unadoptable" cats. We are the largest of it's kind in North America. Cats at the RAPS Cat Sanctuary are feral, semi-feral, FeLV positive, FIV positive, incontinent and have a host of other physical & social challenges. They are cared for and loved by a small staff and over 125 volunteers.

The RAPS Adoption & Education Centre finds loving, forever homes for adoptable cats & kittens. Volunteer fosterers care for mama cats and their kittens or orphaned kittens in their homes until they are old enough to return to the Adoption Centre to become adoption ready.

The RAPS Animal Hospital provides medical care for our own RAPS' animals and also operates as a regular functioning animal hospital to the public. We provide discounted and pro-bono services on a case-by-case basis for people who cannot afford care for their pets.

The RAPS Thrift Stores sell gently used and brand new merchandise to help RAPS run it's pet and people serving programs.

RAPS runs a community pet food bank, has relationships with many low-income people-serving agencies and other rescues and shelters. RAPS does outreach visits to school clubs, social & community groups.
