Direct Patient Volunteers at Hospice Plus provide assistance in the patient’s home or nursing facility with the purpose of companionship or caregiver relief. Oftentimes a spouse may need a few hours to run errands each week and would appreciate the peace of mind know that someone is at home keeping their loved one company while they do so.

Other things a Direct Patient Volunteer may do would be reading to their assigned patient, assisting with a hobby or listening to music with them. You may be asked to pick up their groceries or even show them how to order them online and then put them away. There are so many wonderful things that a Direct Patient Volunteer can do to help our hospice patients and their families. Oftentimes, just being there is enough.
