ORGANIZATION: VEAP- Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People

Do you enjoy driving? Are you looking for a way to become more connected with your community? In our new response to COVID-19, Volunteer Drivers are needed more than ever to help us keep food on our community’s tables! Our Volunteer Driver opportunity complies with current public health guidelines, doesn’t require experience, and is of course fun! No vehicle necessary, VEAP minivans are available to volunteers during their shifts.

Open Opportunities (Ages 25-76):

  • Deliver prepackaged fresh and shelf-stable foods to seniors, participants with disabilities, as well as community members without access to transportation.

In this role you will see your impact first hand and gain insight into how food and housing insecurity affects your community.

All volunteers ages 18 and older are required to complete a criminal background check prior to volunteering. Volunteer Drivers are also required to pass a motor vehicle check, have a valid driver's license, and proof of insurance.

Evening driver shifts are on-site at VEAP and beginevery 1st and 3rd Thursday at 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. We also have opportunities during the day Monday through Friday beginning at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 2:00 p.m.

VEAP is a basic needs and social services organization whose programs promote access to healthy foods, stable housing and transportation. VEAP’s programs are designed to address a particular need and when used together provide hope and can help avoid a financial crisis such as loss of housing, transportation or employment. Whether the hardship is from a disability, job transition, or the financial and physical stresses of aging, VEAP has been helping our neighbors in need for over 40 years in Bloomington, Richfield, and Edina.
