Imagine going into a store feeling alright about yourself but then coming out feeling confident and rejuvenated, all thanks to a certain cosmetologist. Now imagine you were the person who helped guide this cosmologist as a young adult. You were there as a positive role model in their life. You pushed them to purse their dreams while engaging in art and crafts, listening to amazing music, and maybe even playing with some make-up. Does this sound interesting to you? Then you should consider becoming a Community-Based Precious Mentor! As a community-based mentor you will be matched with a high school mentee, and you get to see them 2-3 hours per week for 1 year. During this time, you can engage in activities and create bond with your mentee. If you live in the Denver area and can imagine yourself mentoring a youth, consider being a Community-Based Precious Mentor!

Mission Statement

A Precious Child, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides children in need with opportunities and resources to empower them to achieve their full potential. A Precious Child envisions a future where every child grows up to be a secure, self-reliant, contributing member of their community.

Description

A Precious Child assists children and families facing difficult life challenges such as abuse and neglect, crisis situations, and poverty. We work with more than 300 agency partners throughout eight counties which include Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, Jefferson, and Weld Counties to identify children and families in the most need of our services. Our core initiatives help build the whole child, in addition to meeting basic human needs through our Resource Center, we also help children and their families navigate community resources.

We aim to bridge the gap in a child’s education so that they can become a secure, self-reliant, contributing member of their community as adults.
