Social Media Specialist /Editor
(Volunteer, Remote)

Qualifications

  • This position is best suited for someone with prior marketing and/or communication experience with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communications writing and editing skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, research, and writing abilities.
  • Abilities to be proactive in communicating with and reaching out
  • Ability to work remotely.

Responsibilities
  • This is a volunteer (unpaid) position to compile, write, and edit social media postings, including images and captions as well as publishing the appropriate platforms
  • The social media editor works on the communications team and liaises with other teams to stay up to date about current social campaigns and projected advertising timelines.
  • The volunteer will act as the final eye on all social media content, ensuring that the information, spelling, grammar and design are all correct
  • Expected work hours are 10-15 hours per week
  • All meetings take place via video call and all work is done remotely
  • Ensuring our posts has excellent presentation, correct grammar, working links, and accurate information
  • Designing and putting together social media posts
  • Communicating with the communications team about the timeline for posting content
  • Posting content on our various platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

Founded in the midst of the pandemic, the need for more support of minority businesses and entrepreneurs is apparent as many have been forced to leave the market citing the lack of resources available to support their missions. The M.E.E. Hub stands to fill the gap, with low-cost means of entry to the small business sector and exposure to opportunities for entrepreneurial firm creation. By giving these underserved and often underrepresented population's access to affordable co-working spaces, designated office space, meeting and conference rooms, and programs and services, the M.E.E. Hub is focused on building and strengthening the entrepreneurship ecosystem and improving the conditions of the communities where the businesses operate.
