Crafters needed to make small size "red, white, blue" blankets for Veterans. Our veterans served our country and we are in need of these small lap robes to provide to hospice patients who are veterans.
The blankets can be quilted, knitted or crocheted in patriotic RED, WHITE and BLUE patterns/colors. We use these blankets to give veterans to show a small token of appreciation for their service.
This is a great project for a Scout Troop or a Crafting Club. Please consider sharing your talents with our veterans.
Feel free to email Jessica Lay jlay@capitalcaring.org if you would like further information or maybe some visual samples to get ideas of items. Any and all help is needed. These items truly make a huge difference to our veterans
Blankets will need to be dropped off or mailed to our headquarters location: 3180 Fairview Park Dr, Falls Church VA.
________________________________
To provide a little information about Capital Caring Health - We are a non- profit which serves about 1400 patients each day, many of our patients are veterans. We provide this service throughout Virginia, DC and parts of Maryland. We have 4 inpatient centers and support many patients in their residential homes. We have been proudly been helping the sickest of the sick for over 40 years. We are one of the few hospices who serve pediatrics too. I mention pediatric patients because recently we had a pediatric patient whose father was an active duty service member. We gave him one of our patriotic blankets and it meant the world to him. It was a very moving experience,a simple blanket was such a gift to him as he struggled with his caregiving for his child.
PATRIOTIC BLANKETS-The patriotic blankets that seem to work best are about 3ft. x 3ft. (36inches x 36 inches) (if you want to do larger, that is great too!) We ultimately would like the blankets to be in colors of our Grand Flag- red, white and blue. This can be done with a variety of fabric, crocheted or fleece. This is where a creative touch comes in to play. Here is an example of a no-sew blanket at this link: https://www.instructables.com/id/No-Sew-Fleece-Blanket-1/
Thank you for considering to help VETERANS
