We are in desperate need of Community and School Based mentors in Fayette and Westmoreland Counties to help our youth facing adversity to reach their full potential.
For School Based mentoring, the mentor "Big" would go into their youth's "Little's" elementary school weekly or bi-weekly during their Little's lunch. They could play games with them, help them with their reading skills, or just be someone they can talk to. (We are currently in Laurel Highlands, Greensburg, Norwin, Uniontown, Latrobe and Connellsville elementary schools.)
For Community Based mentoring, the Big would take their Little out into the community at least twice a month to do something they both love (guardian approved). We often have free activities and tickets to provide for the matches.
Many Bigs say that the rewards they gain from volunteering with our programs are just as substantial as the ones gained by their Littles.
**You don't have to show them everything. You just have to show up.**
Please call 724-837-6198, email mentor@BBBSLR.org, or visit our website at www.BBBSLR.org for more information.
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.
About BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF THE LAUREL REGION
106 N MAIN ST, GREENSBURG, PA 15601, US
To create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
Established in 1975, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Laurel Region is the region’s premier evidenced-based youth mentoring agency-we make meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles") in Westmoreland and Fayette counties. There are two program options available, Community-Based and School-Based, that are designed to help develop strong one-to-one relationships, and make a direct and lasting impact on the lives of young children.
In 2020 Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Laurel Region was named National "Agency of the Year."
