It takes a leader to make any worthwhile volunteer project happen - that's where a volunteer coordinator comes in. The Porchlight Community Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting new food pantry volunteers, answering emails, delegating tasks, and ensuring that the pantry has enough coverage, as well as training to run events as scheduled. This volunteer opportunity is perfect for a person interested in helping with hunger relief and environmental impacts.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Porchlight Community Services is to empower lives, promote healthy eating and eliminate food insecurity.
Description
We run a dual program that provides a FoodSHARE for struggling families and a free option for low-income families to attain food. We are helping a community disproportionately affected by food insecurity - People with generally no way of getting aid to reach self-sufficiency.
Every Thursday and Sunday, Porchlight Community Services processes over 3,000 pounds of rescued food that will be going to our community's families. Porchlight is volunteer-led, so they rely on their great community of folks that want to give back.
Porchlight provides a dignified experience for those seeking to change their circumstances and have access to nutritious food. As a "Choice pantry", their distribution events are set up like a grocery store. Clients come in and choose their food products while accompanied by a volunteer.
Volunteers help with unloading, sorting, organizing food items on tables, shelves, refrigerators, and freezers, cleaning, sanitizing, and making it comforting and appealing for those coming to "select" their items later in the day.
Sign up to see how you can play a critical role in helping families have access to food while working toward achieving long-term financial stability.
