AmeriCorps VISTAs (Volunteers in Service to America):

  • Spend one year building capacity for poverty alleviating organizations
  • Work 35 hours a week and may work a second job or take classes during their term
  • Receive modest stipend bi-weekly, benefits, and upon completion of service have a choice between an education or cash award

Member Duties: This VISTA will support the expansion and function of the Office of Equity and Community Empowerment during a period of intense growth. They will build the capacity of the organization through the ongoing development of structured systems and processes. · Create training and onboarding materials for new hires, VISTAs, and community partners/volunteers. · Develop AECE Division Manual. · Streamline existing operational systems. · Assist the Project Manager in implementing an office-wide metric reporting system · Collect metrics data · Assist with the writing, editing, and reviewing of contracts for special projects.

We seek someone who can be given a need or objective, break it down into executable parts, identify questions, gather priorities and requirements, set and manage milestones, and execute effectively. This is an excellent fit for applicants who enjoy a fast-paced environment, have a strong and self-driven work ethic, are able to voice their needs, and can collaborate with a team. Due to the growing nature of the Equity and Community Empowerment Department, the scope of projects for this position will be wide. Applicants must be able to juggle several assignments at once and prioritize their efforts.

Applicants should be interested in organizing the internal processes of a large nonprofit organization, and side projects regarding equity, anti-racism and community empowerment.

Excellent analytical and writing skills are a must. 2+ years of relevant education or work experience preferred.

Focus: HOPE's programs deliver workforce development training and education, early childhood education and asset-based community development work. These programs aim to create a pipeline of opportunity from cradle to post-secondary education.
