Kitchen Volunteers (Chef)
ORGANIZATION: Rose Haven
Please visit the new page to apply.
Rose Haven is an ideal setting for new chefs to get experience! We are looking to add new chefs to serve the needs of Rose Haven guests. Our chefs use donated food from community partners to create nutritious meals for our guests, serving a variety of dietary needs. The morning shift from 8:30-12:00 offers breakfast and lunch, and the afternoon shift from 12:30-3:00 offers lunch and snacks to go. The daily duties consist of warming food to serve to guests, creating meals out of gleaned food items, keeping the kitchen clean, sanitized, and organized, and replenishing the food table as needed. Also, the chef will maintain communication with food runner volunteers to determine what additional foods are needed throughout service hours.
Kitchen volunteers must have an up-to-date food handlers card.

About Rose Haven
1740 NW Glisan St., Portland, OR 97209, US
Our Vision: A community where everyone has safety, stability, love, health and home. Our Mission: To provide day shelter, resources, emotional support and community connections to women, children and marginalized genders experiencing homelessness and poverty.
Safety, Resources and Community:
Rose Haven is a day shelter and community center in Portland OR serving women, children and marginalized genders experiencing poverty, trauma and intersecting issues. Service hours are Monday - Friday from 9:00-12:00; and volunteer opportunities are available from 8:00-4:00.
Rose Haven is a low-barrier agency that exists not to just meet basic needs, but to nurture souls and improve the emotional, mental and physical well-being of our guests and our community as a whole. We understand our agency exists within larger systems of oppression, and we seek to disrupt those structures through radical hospitality, advocacy on an individual and community level, and meaningful connections to resources. Recognizing the isolation and loneliness that homelessness can create, we work to hold a space where all guests can connect, have voice and be empowered.
