CrowdDoing aims to achieve systemic change through "compound intrinsic leverage for impact". Leverage for impact is the concept of measuring how much effect is required to achieve what level of outcome or impact. Each source of leverage represents a kind of resource that has not been connected to a problem-solving context. Compound leverage becomes feasible when multiple under-utilized capacities are connected. For example, systemic change can be resourced through a combination of new participation of stakeholders, prevention of anticipable liabilities, and the reuse of otherwise wasted materials. Leverage comes from under-utilized capacities that are integrated into relevance resourcing of social innovation. CrowdDoing global volunteers help to connect research and practice to help make aspirational impact goals feasible.

About Medicinal Foods & Herbs Program

Medicinal Foods & Herbs envisions empowered personal and communal health through food as medicine, unlocking nature’s potential with ancestral wisdom and contemporary science. We are a social impact platform to activate global ecosystems of healthy communities through public health research, literacy tools, and citizen science.

About the Role

We are looking for a volunteer for our Data Science Leadership role who can help the data science team enhance performance and current strategy to ensures successful outcomes. The volunteer would be responsible to collaborate and collate the different Data Science sub teams including the database architecture, database admin and the data visualization teams towards their common goals and directly oversee the project team. The volunteer will also have a shared responsibility for building a strategy for our citizen science data collection. The data leader will be coaching and developing the junior volunteers. The Leader will report to the Program leads and work with all the stakeholders to understand and build an effective data strategy for the team.

Key Responsibility includes but is not limited to;

Oversee and manage the data-related elements of a collective impact process, by

• Providing data analysis and synthesis to understand challenges to establish a common agenda, a framework for project and program support and planning.
• Providing support to identify the data-driven insights and their impact on implementation.
• Facilitating a collaborative environment for the development and management of projects and teams.
• Guiding innovative and creative fidelity of data-driven critical strategies and pilot initiatives
• Analyzing and synthesizing data collected to report on the impact of collective impact initiatives.
• The volunteer will also have a shared responsibility for strategizing of our citizen science data collection.
• The volunteer will also be a bridge to lead the different data science sub teams towards their common goals
