Summary:

The Adult Mental Health Intern will have the opportunity to observe and shadow the Mental Health case manager who provides services to individuals with Mental Health concerns. The intern will assist Case Manager in daily activities, such as finding resources for clients and assisting clients with completion of forms (MFIP, Ramsey County general forms, etc.)

Schedule:

Monday through Thursday ( 9am - 5pm)

Minimum Time Commitment: 10-15hours per week.

Type of Internship: Unpaid internship / In person & remote

Responsibilities:
  • Assist clients to find resources within the community or Ramsey County DHS (face to face or by phone).
  • After completing all appropriate training, intern will provide crisis intervention services via face to face or by phone.
  • Conduct research and referral of resources for clients in need of other services
  • Follow up and case management or advocacy as needed.
  • Conduct outreach at different community organizations.
  • Maintain client records in a timely manner and according to Creando Puentes procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with various departments within CLUES.
  • Follow up with client’s cases as needed.
  • Once all training has been completed, intern will be able to provide clients with transportation as needed.
  • Under the supervision of CLUES staff and once training has been completed, intern may conduct home visits as needed.
  • Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, agency policies and other applicable laws, regulations and ethical standards.
  • Other tasks assigned.

CLUES reserves the right to terminate an internship or volunteer commitment if behavior is not in compliance with CLUES policies.

Qualifications:
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English and cultural competency required.
  • Previous experience with community outreach and working with diverse populations required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and openly with internal and external customers and clients; Use tact and courtesy when dealing with the public.
  • Current enrollment in an Associates level or Bachelors level program. Bachelors Degree preferred but not required.
  • Experience in Social Work, Human Services, or related field preferred.
  • Must pass a criminal & motor vehicle record check & MS 604.20.
