Coaching with Camp Girls on the Run is a rewarding way to get involved with the San Diego community. As a volunteer coach, you get to inspire girls in your community and help them learn critical life skills they will use now and as they grow. The GOTR Camp Coach is a volunteer position that works with a team of coaches to facilitate the Girls on the Run curriculum where girls will build, create, write, discuss, and connect with themselves and their teammates, while participating in activities that support their physical health and confidence.
Coaches are needed for 5-day sessions from 11:30am-4:00pmand should attend ALL practices DURING the week. Additional time required on one weekend day for in-person coach training and First Aid/CPR training if necessary. All materials and training is provided by GOTRSD free of cost. All coaches will receive a $300 stipend for their week of coaching, reimbursement for mileage and security/health and safety checks necessary to coach.
Essential Role Functions:
- Deliver the Camp GOTR curriculum as intended
- Provide a positive, inclusive environment for all girls
- Provide direct care and supervision of campers to ensure safety
- Comply with the GOTR policies, including safety/risk management, access & inclusion, and youth protection policies
- Report safety/risk incidents to camp site and GOTR using accident/incident form
Week 1: June 20-24 at Language Academy or Golden Hill K-8
Week 2: July 11-15 at Language Academy or Golden Hill K-8
Week 3: July 18-22 at Central Elementary or Valencia Park Elementary

The Program:
Girls on the Run is a 501(c)3 positive youth development program which combines an interactive curriculum and running to inspire self-respect and healthy lifestyles in pre-teen girls. Our core curriculum addresses many aspects of girls' development - their physical, emotional, mental and social well-being. Lessons provide girls with the tools to make positive decisions and to avoid risky adolescent behaviors.
