Organization Description

Acquaint aims to overcome hate, polarization, and failure to cooperate worldwide by building a global cultural exchange at the grassroots level. Volunteers connect on the Acquaint platform for one-on-one conversations to share culture and perspectives. These sessions raise global awareness while building empathy and cultural competencies. Currently, Acquaint has over 600 volunteers participating from over 70 countries.

Role Description

Cultural Networking is a remote volunteer opportunity based on each volunteer’s schedule. Each week, you will enter available days and times on the Acquaint website. Based on your availability, you will be paired with a fellow volunteer for at least one session per week. Sessions last an average of 45 minutes, and the goal is to ask questions, learn about the other person, and build our intercultural communication skills. A series of virtual icebreakers help spark conversation.

Once you apply, you will be sent link to signup, and subsequently invited to join one of Acquaint's onboarding Zoom calls. Further instructions will be given from there.

Qualifications and Requirements

• English language fluency
• Basic computer skills
• Internet connection
• Must be 15 years of age or older
• If under 18, permission from a parent or guardian

Time Commitment

• Flexible scheduling
• Available volunteering hours: 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM Eastern Time
• Onboarding and training takes 2-4 hours
