New Haven / León Sister City Project (NH/LSCP) depends on volunteers and interns for much of what we do to promote education, public health and poverty reduction in Nicaragua and Connecticut. We are ESPECIALLY looking for people who could be involved a few hours a month over a longer time period.

NH/LSCP is seeking a Development Manager to lead a small team of volunteers in the areas of: peer-to-peer fundraising, grants, and outreach. The Development Manager does not need to be an expert in each of these areas, but it is helpful if they have a background in fundraising at some level, as well as the motivation to lead others in their volunteer work. The Development Manager will provide strategic & logistical support, review work, and fill in when other volunteers are away. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking for a leadership role that can be done remotely, on your own schedule, in just 2-3 hours per week!

VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the mission, vision, values and goals NH/LSCP
  • Support the Development Director in the implementation of the areas of the fundraising strategy related peer-to-peer fundraising and grants
  • Lead and hold accountable development team volunteers
  • Recruit additional fundraising ambassadors to lead peer-to-peer campaigns
  • Other assigned tasks as needed

SKILLS NEEDED:

  • A passion for our mission and work - in environmental & social change in New Haven, CT & León, Nicaragua
  • A genuine interest in development, fundraising, and/or nonprofit management
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and lead a diverse, remote volunteer team
  • Availability to check on tasks at least once per week
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Prior knowledge of NH/LSCP is a plus
  • Bilingual English-Spanish is a plus
