New Haven / León Sister City Project (NH/LSCP) depends on volunteers and interns for much of what we do to promote education, public health and poverty reduction in Nicaragua and Connecticut. We are ESPECIALLY looking for people who could be involved a few hours a month over a longer time period.

NH/LSCP is seeking a Website Coordinator to manage the technical side of our website on Wordpress. The Website Coordinator would handle more complex updates on Wordpress as needed, as well as optimize our site for SEO with keywords and meta descriptions. The Website Coordinator will provide technical support and recommend ongoing improvements for our website. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking for a volunteer role that can be done remotely, on your own schedule, in just 1-3 hours per week!

VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the mission, vision, values and goals NH/LSCP
  • Manage our Wordpress website including updates as needed
  • Optimize our website with SEO keywords and meta descriptions
  • Other assigned tasks as needed

SKILLS NEEDED:

  • A passion for our mission and work - in environmental & social change in New Haven, CT & León, Nicaragua
  • Experience in Wordpress
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Availability to check on tasks at least once per week
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Prior knowledge of NH/LSCP is a plus
  • Bilingual English-Spanish is a plus

Description

The primary work of the NH/LSCP in León, Nicaragua is to support community based initiatives in the rural communities of Goyena and Troilo and to facilitate programs and projects that improve public health and community based education, support women’s rights, and address root causes of poverty. In New Haven we work to respond to climate change and promote public health. In both communities we work to build local leadership and capacity and address root causes of poverty and injustice.
