Do you love cuddling with adorable cute kitties? Is playing with kittens one of your favorite things? Foster Parenting volunteers care for cats and kittens (and on occasion, dogs) preparing them for adoption to loving forever homes. Foster volunteers care for kittens and cats in their home, ensuring that their basic needs for food, water, warmth, safety, and socialization are met, while closely monitoring their health and growth. As their caretakers, foster parents schedule and bring in their kittens and cats for regular vaccine, spay/neuter, and medical appointments and coordinate with Solano Co Friends of Animals for these appointments.
There are various perks to fostering with SCFOA:

  • Get support during the adoption process including postings on Petfinder.com and adoption events at Pet Food Express Benicia.
  • Cat (and dog) food and litter donations when available.
  • Spay/neuter/vaccines and medical expenses are covered by the rescue group.
  • Access to our email list where you can get your fostering questions answered by experienced and dedicated foster parents.
  • The joy, gratification, and love of caring for kittens and cats, watching them grow and evolve, finding loving homes for them knowing that you are saving lives by offering your home, care and attention to these little beings in need.

Ability to take direction and follow instructions with ease and patience are required. And yet knowing how to work independently is also a must. Self-direction and paying attention to detail are also very important. Be prepared to have your heart and mind opened.
