At Green Chimneys, students with special needs learn to ride, care for and connect with horses as part of a comprehensive nature-based education experience and treatment plan. And as a PATH International Premier Accredited Center, we are committed to providing quality equine-assisted educational programs. Volunteers work alongside staff, directly support the care of equines, and interact with students.
We are recruiting volunteers to join our Horse Barn team on weekdays, including mornings, late afternoons, and evenings to, and weekends:
- assist with riding classes
- maintain paddocks and stalls
- contribute to animal care
Help care for our 15 horses & 2 camels. Brush, tack and get horses ready for class, muck paddocks and stalls, help with feeding and assist with riding classes.
Prior experience with equines is not necessary; training is provided.
Enjoy the rewards of volunteering: make a difference while having fun! For more information or to apply online, visit greenchimneys.org/volunteer-with-horses.

Mission Statement
Green Chimneys is a multi-faceted nonprofit organization helping young people to maximize their full potential by providing residential, educational, clinical and recreational services, in a safe and supportive environment that nurtures connections with their families, the community, animals and nature.
Description
Green Chimneys offers day and residential programs for students who have been unsuccessful in traditional education environments and who benefit from a small, structured and supportive setting. Natural surroundings create a safe, therapeutic environment for students with special needs, incorporating innovative animal-assisted and nature-based activities. A nurturing approach features small class sizes, high staff-to-student ratio, and certified teaching staff to provide full academic, behavioral and emotional support for grades K-12. Our goal is to help students reach their maximum potential so they may return to their home school district with the best chance of success.
