Member Duties: Members will conduct community outreach to improve access to primary medical, dental and behavioral care. They will provide health education on a variety of topics to patients and the community.

Service Description: Members serve at one of our health center sites in northern New Jersey. They work through outreach to address individual challenges and health system barriers faced by Zufall's patient population. Our population includes farmworkers, people experiencing homelessness, public housing residents, and people living with HIV/AIDS. Many come from poor minority communities with significant barriers to accessing health care. Members also deliver health education on topics including, diabetes, prenatal care, asthma, HIV/AIDS, Covid-19, prevention of childhood obesity trough nutrition and exercise, proper oral health, senior wellness, access to health insurance, health access for new immigrant families. AmeriCorps members do not provide health service related to prohibited activities.

In order to qualify, applicants must be 18 years of age, and have a college degree. Applicants must also be a U.S. citizen or legal resident at the time of application. It is highly advantageous if applicants are bilingual and fluent in English and Spanish. Applicants must also possess a strong interest in serving the community within the health and human service fields. These positions are for AmeriCorps members; applicants chosen will not be considered full time or part time employees of Zufall Health Center. All positions are 11 month commitments. They are full time commitments with a total of 1,700 service hours required by the end of the service term.
