Part of the Solution (POTS) is a non-profit social services agency fighting food insecurity and poverty in The Bronx. We help nourish the basic needs and hungers of all who to our door! Our Communications Department is looking for someone to assist our efforts in social media, graphic design, and content creation. Please note this can be a hyrbrid or remote role and would require 15-20 hours a week of your time. We will work together on a schedule. Responsibilities:

• Support the Director of Communications by prioritizing and coordinating daily tasks

• Assist in the creation, edit, and management of network communications, including updates and newsletters

• Draft or proofread documents intended for external publication and internal distribution to our network of staff and volunteers

• Assist with storytelling and content creation for social media and website accounts to increase awareness of our mission and to encourage donations

• Research global statistics connected to core programming and issue areas

• Work with the Communications Director to track analytics for social media channels and website

• Monitor media outlets, partner organizations, and follower comments for relevant content, as well as providing appropriate feedback

• Organize photo and video libraries, update them as assets come in

• Research industry trends and tools

• Identify upcoming editorial and speaking opportunities

• Other duties as assigned

Required qualifications:

• Identification with POTS’s mission and values

• Spanish language proficiency

• Undergraduate or graduate student in communications, nonprofit management, or a related field

• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong research and critical thinking skills

• Exceptional attention to detail

• Ability to work quickly and meet deadlines without loss of quality

• Ability to work as part of a team, implement collaborative projects, and think creatively

• Ability to interact with people of different backgrounds

• Experience and knowledge of MS Office products

• Able to commit to at least 3 months to the internship

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in creating, editing, and managing digital content across web-based platforms

• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite applications (Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop)

• Knowledge of print process and technology including pre-press, pre-flight and print requirements.

• Demonstrated interest in human services through previous volunteering, coursework or work experience
