Our Youth Workshops are specially designed to use creativity to encourage youths, 13-15 years of age (sometimes younger groups) who are at poverty-level and at-risk, to explore their personal abilities and to understand how to face the various challenges they face in life: family, school, and community. The Goal is to help them to apply their strengths toward better grades and accomplishments in school.
Facilitators will help mentor the youths to better understand themselves and to seek-out their particular strengths and talents.
Following special guidelines, the volunteers will be under the supervision of a program coordinator. Volunteers may find occasionally, they will need to tutor the youths a bit in reading and math. Set-up and clean-up of work space is required.
Creative entailments, include art in various mediums and writing, dance movement and music, board games to foster critical thinking and teamwork, etc. The workshops will conclude with a showcase of their works and accomplishments.
