Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York

Catholic Charities Community Services: Preserving Housing Department works hard to keep families safely housed and cared for. Utilizing trained counselors who assist with financial planning and stability helps ensure a brighter future for our communities.

The Tenant Education Program (TEP) is a service provided by the Preserving Housing Department of Catholic Charities Community Services. The TEP consists of a series of training workshops covering topics relevant to preserving and stabilizing housing in NYC.

Through its training workshops, this program aims to transform its participants into tenants who are reliable and preferable to the landlord by helping them learn basic knowledge and skills for family budgeting, identify and practice basic rights and responsibilities as a NYC tenant, understand the need for a cooperative and peaceful landlord-tenant relationship, and more.

We are looking for volunteers to teach the Budget Management Workshop virtually with our Tenant Education Program (TEP) coordinators. We have the curriculum - we just need your talents!

Schedule: Tuesdays (10am-12pm) and Evenings (5pm-7pm)

Commitment: One to four workshop sessions per month (grateful for whatever you can do)

Location: Virtual - all workshops will be conducted via Microsoft Teams. You can teach from the comfort of your own home!

Qualifications: Familiarity with financial education is highly desired; basic computer proficiency to use a virtual conference platform

What you will do: Teach budgeting 101 tactics and skills in our online workshops; work with TEP staff to track all participants' progress
