Our New Canaan Thrift Shop volunteer team is recruiting new members to help sort and display donations, serve customers or take photos of our unique items for social media. This is a fast paced and fun environment for high school/adult volunteers. Your service will have a positive impact on the lives of our patients, customers and the environment.

Experience is not necessary. This opportunity will suit friendly and energetic individuals who have a cheerful demeanor, energy and compassion for others. Morning or afternoon shifts available.

A community treasure since 1930 the New Canaan Thrift Shop is housed at its landmark corner location on 2 Locust Ave. One of the oldest volunteer-run Thrift Shops in the country all proceeds directly benefit the patients of Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County, a member of Waveny LifeCare Network.

Our community outreach includes school nursing, community health screenings, health education and wellness programs. Over the past 110 years Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County has helped thousands of individuals, and their loved ones cope with terminal illness with comfort, peace and dignity. Joining forces with Waveny in 2021 VNHFC enabled the Waveny volunteer program to expand to offer opportunities at the New Canaan Thrift Shop and as part of the hospice and bereavement support volunteer team.

Our Volunteer program impacts the lives of our patients, residents AND volunteers providing enrichment, social connection, purpose and opportunities to learn and grow while making a difference!
As a nonprofit organization, we are a mission-based provider of healthcare, housing and support services to approximately 2,400 people every year. Waveny relies on our talented staff and hundreds of volunteers to deliver the highest quality of person-centered care every day. Our Volunteer program provides a wide range of opportunities and flexible hours. We invest in our volunteer team providing training and mentoring to maximize the impact of the time and skills shared.
