Need a volunteer for companionship, recently moved into a group home and would like some company, maybe play a game, make a puzzle, talk about family and background. Put together a photo booklet, sit outside and enjoy the weather. Our volunteer has no expectations, but would like someone to come out and visit with just our patient. Family does not live in the same town, but live nearby. Patient is forgetful, so might be repeating yourself a few times on questions, please don't get frustrated, we give you tools that will help you redirect the patient to other conversations. You will enjoy the visits.

We advocate on behalf of our patients to ensure their comfort and final wishes are being granted. We strive to connect with all of our patients and provide personalized physical, mental and spiritual care.

Description

Providing care and comfort to patients. Opportunities include direct patient visitation and administrative support. We provide feedback to schools for volunteer credit. We provide internships for those in nursing and social work. Travel will be limited, with the exception of internships, which may be only to visit different sites. Our goal is to provide companionship as well as socialization to those who express desire to have a volunteer visit. Our scope of activities may be limitless, we help with light housekeeping, running errands, helping with activities, quiet time to reflect and hear life experiences.

  • One hour a week, weekly visits, companionship. Working with a patient in a group home to provide some one on one time with the patient, when the the family cannot visit.
  • TB test, copy of current Driver's license, auto insurance, and orientation all provided. Will introduce patient to volunteer to see if there is a good connection. Adaptable to changing situations.
