Ten Thousand Villages of Nashville ("TTV Nashville") is a nonprofit fair trade retail store. We have served the Nashville community for over 20 years. The board is responsible for setting the direction for the store. TTV Nashville needs new board members that are passionate about fair trade, and are willing to provide their time and skills in supporting the store's mission. The board meets 10 times per year, and outside of the meetings, members are encouraged to volunteer their time and/or resources based on their abilities. The typical board member spends about six hours per month supporting TTV Nashville. Please consider joining our board. Board members also receive a 20% discount on all merchandise in the store.

Mission Statement

Ten Thousand Villages of Nashville supports the principles of fair trade and empowers artisans in developing countries by selling their handcrafted products and sharing their stories. Our store provides a unique shopping experience where everyone can participate in the fair trade mission.

Description

Ten Thousand Villages in Nashville, TN, is a fair trade retailer of artisan-crafted home decor, personal accessories and gift items from across the globe. Featuring products from more than 130 artisan groups in some 36 countries, we are part of a network of more than 145 retail outlets throughout the United States selling Ten Thousand Villages products.

As one of the world's oldest and largest fair trade organizations, Ten Thousand Villages has spent more than 60 years cultivating trading relationships in which artisans receive a fair price for their work and consumers have access to distinctive handcrafted items. We seek to establish long-term buying relationships in places where skilled artisans are under- or unemployed, and in which they lack other opportunities for income. A founding member of the International Fair Trade Association (IFAT), Ten Thousand Villages sees fair trade as an alternative approach to conventional international trade.
