ORGANIZATION: Idealist.org

Recruiting Organization: St. Francis Neighborhood Center

SFNC is proud to offer free summer programming to Kindergarten-8th grade students in the 21217 area. This program is called the Summer of Service Excursion (SOSE).

We are looking for volunteers to help engage our youth in planned small group activities which can include: Book Club, STEM activities, art projects, and service learning educational research and civic engagement projects.

In SOSE students have the opportunity to participate in weekly field trips, enrichment classes, and civic learning. We partner with organizations like Art with a Heart and Baltimore PeacePlayers to ensure students engage with a variety of subjects and experiences throughout their time with us. During SOSE all students also have the opportunity to design and implement a service-learning project to contribute to the positive growth of their community. This holistic program is meant to give students a meaningful and engaging experience during their time away from school.

SOSE 2022 is planned to take place over two, three week sessions from June 27th-August 11th. Students will meet in-person at SFNC (2405 Linden Ave.) Monday-Thursday, 10am-4pm. Though not required, vaccination against COVID-19 is highly recommended for participation.

Session 1: June 27th-July 14th

Session 2: July 25th-August 11th
