ORGANIZATION: Maryland Coalition Against Pornography

  • 5 people are interested

Someone with good writing skills and adept at summarizing news articles. In the past, Microsoft Word has been used, then docs are saved into PDF form. It is helpful to include hot links to resources on the Internet. The newsletter is published quarterly, delivered electronically via email 3 times a year, and once a year, in the fall, in paper form. Usually 4-6 pages long, with a few illustrations or graphics. See ecamples on our website, http://mcap1.com/mcap/newsletters

Some of the sources for articles are drawn, at least in part, from social media, such as Facebook. Familiarity with FB is very helpful.

Desktop formatting expertise is also helpful.

About Maryland Coalition Against Pornography

Location:

P.O. Box 2868, Silver Spring, MD 20915, US

Mission Statement

Because the purpose of MCAP is to reduce the destructive influences of pornography in the community and to raise standards, the organization focuses on the following: Educating the public about the harmful effects of pornography; taking appropriate action against businesses that deal in pornography; supporting businesses which do not distribute pornographic materials; encouraging the enforcement of federal, state, and local obscenity and child pornography laws and lobbying local, state, and federal elected officials; protecting minors against exposure to pornography; providing help to those struggling with addictions to pornography

Description

Local grassroots organization founded in 1986 by citizens concerned, at that time, about "adult" bookstores springing up in their communities. We primarily serve Montgomery and Prince George's County. Our efforts are to educate, raise awareness of, and promote passage and enforcement of laws regulating illegal pornography, locally. Because of our close proximity to DC, the nation's capital, we sometimes address national issues.
