ADULT SHELTER volunteers: SU-SAT, 7-11pm or 5:30-7am

FAMILY SHELTER volunteers: M-F 1-4pm or 4-7pm, SAT/SU 5-7pm

Volunteers should be age 18+. Those who are age 15-17 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Trained shelter volunteers help create a safe, caring & supportive environment for adult homeless shelter guests by providing assistance to the staff and giving informal support to shelter guests.

Volunteers are additional hands, eyes & ears for the evening staff, and are not expected to enforce rules or have direct care responsibility.

Light duties include setting up, serving & cleaning up meals and snacks, washing dishes, making a presence, & packing lunches.

Volunteers schedule times and dates based on our calendar of needs. However, once a shift is assigned, the commitment is critical. There is no minimum requirement for service.

Volunteers serve alongside fellow volunteers and/or staff. There are 50 or less pre-screened homeless men, women, and children living in the shelter.

ALL volunteers must complete an application. Please complete an application on our website at

Mission Statement

Responding to the human hurts and hopes of persons in Lake County who are homeless by providing emergency shelter, care and guidance in the name and for the sake of Jesus Christ.

Project Hope is a faith-based, ecumenical temporary emergency shelter for men, women & children. Every day, prescreened homeless guests, numbering up to 50 daily, do chores, eat, shower, set and work toward positive goals, & receive help or information from other agencies, which ultimately leads to a total success rate of more than 90% transitioning to better living conditions within 90 days. Project Hope provides more than a meal and shelter, it renews lives and restores hope. Come be a part of the success!
