Bring a smile to someone's day!
Homeshelter volunteers help Project Hope guests have a successful transition to restored hope!

Evening shelter volunteers are 18+, and help from 7-10:30pm. (those who are 15-17 must be accompanied by a parent).

Trained shelter volunteers help create a safe, caring & supportive environment for adult homeless shelter guests by providing assistance to the staff and giving informal support to shelter guests.

Light duties include setting up, serving & cleaning up the evening meal, washing dishes, & packing lunches.

Volunteers are additional hands, eyes & ears for the evening staff, and are notexpected to enforce rules or have direct care responsibility.

Volunteers schedule times and dates based on our calendar. However, once a shift is assigned, the commitment is critical. There is no minimum requirement for service.

Each evening there are 3 staff members and 3 shelter volunteers. There are 35 or less pre-screened homeless men & women living in the shelter each night.

ALL volunteers must complete an application. Please include a mailing address so an application can be mailed to you, OR PREFERABLY... complete an application on our web site at https://projecthopeonline.org/online-volunteer-application/

Please allow at least two weeks for the completion of application review and background check. Watch junk email folders for email correspondence. You may follow up at volunteer@projecthopeonline.org

PLEASE DECLARE COURT-ORDERED SERVICE: hours needs, offense for hours, court & PO names

Responding to the human hurts and hopes of persons in Lake County who are homeless by providing emergency shelter, care and guidance in the name and for the sake of Jesus Christ.

Project Hope is a faith-based, ecumenical temporary emergency shelter for men, women & children. Every day, prescreened homeless guests, numbering up to 50 daily, do chores, eat, shower, set and work toward positive goals, & receive help or information from other agencies, which ultimately leads to a total success rate of more than 80% transitioning to better living conditions within 45 days.
