Mission Statement

Our Mission: To accompany and care for families struggling with poverty and men facing homelessness by providing food, shelter, clothing and services to support their journey toward stability, productivity, meaning and hope, building upon the good works, ideals and values of Father Horace McKenna, S.J.

Description

The Father McKenna Center is an independent 501(c)3 in the Ignatian Catholic tradition located in Washington, D.C. We serve men struggling with homelessness and families facing food insecurity. We provide a structured programming that supports our mission of Meeting Needs ... Reclaiming Lives.

We have three different programs for men experiencing homelessness: the Day Program, McKenna Academy, and Hypothermia/Transition Shelter. For D.C. residents facing food insecurity, we operate a four-day-a-week, client choice Food Pantry that provides a variety of fresh, frozen, and shelf-stable food items.
