Ottawa NF Campground Hosts - Marenisco

ORGANIZATION: USDA Forest Service

The Bessemer Ranger District of the Ottawa National Forest is in the Western Upper Peninsula. We are seeking Campground Hosts for each of our four campgrounds located outside of Marenisco, Michigan. These are rustic campgrounds with the following amenities:

· There are between 11-13 family campsites at each campground (for Tents or RV).

· All sites are first come, first serve only.

· These sites DO NOT have electrical, water, or sewer hook-ups.

· Each campsite has a campfire ring, picnic table, lantern post, and gravel parking spur.

· There are accessible vault toilet buildings and drinking water available within each campground, along with a garbage and recycling collection area.

· Fuel, a small grocery store, and restaurants can be found within 3-9 miles of each campground.


Bobcat Lake Campground

Bobcat Lake Campground is located approximately 3 miles southeast of Marenisco, MI in Gogebic County. This campground is located along the shoreline of Bobcat Lake and offers visitors a rustic camping experience. The campsites are bordered by vegetation that provide privacy between each site. Bobcat Lake has a variety of game fish. A boat landing and beach area are located adjacent to the campground off FR 8523-A and are available for use without a fee.

Henry Lake Campground

Henry Lake Campground is a single loop campground located 9 miles southwest of Marenisco, MI in Gogebic County. The campsites have good spacing with natural vegetation that provides screening in between each site. This campground has sites along Henry Lake and offers visitors a rustic camping experience. Henry Lake has a newly installed accessible fishing pier and vault toilet adjacent to the boat landing. There are various pan and game fish which make this lake fun to fish with the family. A boat landing with accessible fishing pier and toilet are available for day use without a fee.


Moosehead Lake Campground

If you like solitude and listening to the loons, Moosehead Lake Campground is the place for you. This campground is located 10 miles southeast of Marenisco, MI in Gogebic County. The sites are spaced out with natural vegetation that provide some screening between them. The sites uphill from Moosehead Lake and offer visitors a rustic camping experience. Adjacent to the campground is a boat landing and small parking area that can accommodate 3 to 4 vehicles with boat trailers. Moosehead Lake has a variety of pan and other game fish. A boat landing and small parking area are available for day use without a fee.

Pomeroy Lake Campground

Pomeroy Lake Campground is located near the shoreline of Pomeroy Lake 8 miles southeast of Marenisco, MI. The campsites are spaced out and have some natural vegetation in between and some sites have a great view of the lake. There is a boat landing with a smaller parking area adjacent to the campground. This campground offers visitors a rustic camping experience. Pomeroy Lake has pan and a variety of other game fish. A boat landing and small parking area are available for day use without a fee.
