As a volunteer in our Community-Based Mentoring Program, you will give a Little the invaluable gift of being a caring and consistent adult friend to them. By simply changing the perspective of their world, you can literally start changing their life. This can happen while giving just few hours of your time each month. It's really pretty simple - by doing everyday activities with a child, you can make a BIG difference in the life of a local child.

In the Community-Based Mentoring Program, matches between the Big and Little meet in the community each week at a time convenient for both the volunteer and the child. No cost/low-cost activities are encouraged - after all, it is about spending time together, not spending money. Some activity ideas are playing catch at a park, riding bikes, doing arts and crafts, or learning a new skill together.

Mission Statement

The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.

Description

For 50 years, BBBSCW has impacted children, families, and our community by providing mentoring services proven to help our kids beat the odds. Professionally supported by our staff, road-maps for success are developed in partnerships with parents, children and mentors.

BBBSCW offers programs in Portage County and Wood County. BBBSCW matches volunteers who have gone through an interview and screening process with children that range from 6 - 17 years of age. Our mentors provide consistent, positive, caring support to a child. BBBSCW provides on-going professional support to the mentor, the parents and the child - a key component in having a successful match with a child.
