Pickering Creek has a number of small garden areas that feature, primarily native plants which flourish with regular TLC. Lend helping hands to Pickering gardens and enjoy the company of fellow volunteers as we plant and prune (and weed) for an hour or so in the garden beds at the Center entrance, Byron House, Settlers garden area, near the office, and at Peterson Woods. Most gardening is scheduled during Garden and Grounds days and Saturday Service Days . Check for dates upcoming gardening days . Gardeners can also work with the Volunteer Coordinator to establish their own schedule.

Description
Pickering Creek is owned and operated by Chesapeake Audubon Society. A commitment to education is at the heart of the Pickering Creek tradition. By inspiring more people in more places to value and protect the natural world, we are laying the foundation for future conservation. The Center features over 400 acres with mature forest, wetlands, meadows and waterfront that are accessed by over five miles of trails. The Center primarily offers programs to school children throughout the year, however also welcomes the public free of charge, to discover its trails, open daily from dawn to dusk. Pickering Creek serves over 16,000 students a year for science and environmental education programs.
