The Pan African Sanctuary Alliance (PASA), the largest association of wildlife centers in Africa, includes 23 organizations in 13 African countries that are securing a future for Africa’s primates. PASA strengthens our member organizations and works to build a global movement to save Africa’s great apes and monkeys. The combination of PASA’s worldwide network and our members’ local expertise uniquely positions the Alliance to make a significant, sustained impact.
PASA is offering a volunteer opportunity for a TikTok Volunteer, which can be performed remotely.
As PASA’s TikTok Volunteer, you will create a TikTok account for PASA and will use the platform in an emotive and professional style that compels people to take action, strategically building a larger audience, and converting fans to donors/supporters. This opportunity will involve helping PASA build a strategy for the platform. These skills will be readily transferable to positions in marketing, communications, and advertising in for-profit companies as well as nonprofits.
Your goals will be to:
- Raise awareness worldwide through TikTok about issues in environmental conservation and animal welfare that affect apes and monkeys in Africa.
- Raise awareness about the work of wildlife centers to rescue and rehabilitate primates and address these issues.
- Use TikTok to establish PASA’s presence.
Your specific roles will include:
- Research strategies on using TikTok for nonprofits.
- Create compelling stories about apes and monkeys on TikTok, using information and photos from PASA’s member sanctuaries in Africa.
- Inspire people to like, share, and comment on the posts, as well as to donate.
Applicants should be fluent in using the TikTok platform and be willing to try different strategies, have good communications skills, and be highly motivated.

To support and represent PASA members in their critical work to protect and prevent the extinction of Africa’s primates.
Description
Formed in Entebbe, Uganda in 2000, PASA has grown from a loose collection of primate orphanages into a powerful organization that places a premium on standards of health, welfare, husbandry, education, conservation and accountability.
At present, 23 PASA members in 13 countries that span the breadth and depth of the African continent collectively care for more than 850 chimpanzees, 80 gorillas, 65 bonobos and more than 2,500 other primates.
PASA serves as a source of strength and inspiration for its members, working to facilitate great ape confiscations and transfers, locate funding, raise standards of health, and promote educational outreach. PASA also stages annual workshops for sanctuary managers, veterinary healthcare workers, educators, and keepers, and publishes manuals that cover primate healthcare, conservation education, and sanctuary operations.
