ORGANIZATION: San Francisco CASA Program

  • 7 people are interested

San Francisco CASA is recruiting volunteer photographers that can help us document some events.

San Francisco CASA transforms the lives of youth traumatized and displaced in foster care and connected systems by providing consistent, caring volunteer advocates trained to address each child’s needs in the court and the community.

Communicating and spreading our message in a visual way is very important to continue helping our children in San Francisco's foster care.

We are looking for people with photography and editing skills to help us to take professional pictures of our events. The events are usually short and sporadic.

What we can offer:

When you volunteer with us you will have the opportunity to develop your skills, and enhance your CV. You will be able to bring your own ideas into the organization related to marketing and photography. You will be warmly welcomed and we will give you a certificate for the events you cover. We will also provide references for your job.

What we ask for:
- Enthusiasm for photography and for social initiatives to improve our community.
-A commitment to cover our events when it is needed.
-The next event will happen on Thursday, June 2. From 5:30pm to 6:30pm.

How to apply:
Simply send us an email to jennifer@sfcasa.org and we will send you a short application form. From there, we can invite you in for a quick interview to chat to see what you would like to get out of the role.

Mission Statement

OUR MISSION San Francisco CASA transforms the lives of abused and neglected foster youth by providing one consistent, caring volunteer advocate, trained to address each child’s needs in the court and the community. OUR VISION That every child has a safe and loving home and is given the opportunity to thrive.

Description

In San Francisco alone, there are over 1,000 abused and neglected foster youth removed from their families in need of strong positive role models to nurture their development and advocate for their best interest.

Through advocacy and mentorship, the San Francisco Court Appointed Special Advocate Program empowers community members to stand up for a foster child and champion their rights in court.

As a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), you will be empowered by the foster care system to investigate, facilitate, advocate, and monitor the needs of foster children in order to represent their best interests. You will work one-on-one with a youth, getting to know them so you may advocate for their needs such as housing, education, permanent relationships, and extracurricular activities. At the end of the day, it is the goal of a CASA to help ensure these children don't struggle alone and are given a safe place to live.

SFCASA is in critical need of male volunteers to mentor boys and teens!

Attend our next volunteer orientation to learn how you can make a lasting difference in a foster child's life! Sign-up by going to http://www.sfcasa.org/volunteer/.

Be an advocate, and prevent another child in your community from falling through the cracks of the system.
