Our Nursing Unit Support volunteer position provides support to the nursing unit/nursing staff with non-urgent patient needs that do not require hands-on care of any type. Responsibilities include: answering non-urgent call bell issues, providing ancillary support to patients and nursing unit staff by addressing non-care needs of patients, as trained, re-stock linen carts, engage in unit-based patient rounding.
Prior experience in health care field is preferred. Must be able to effectively communicate with visitors, patients, family members and hospital staff.
Complete training is provided.
Positions also available at our Satellite Unit at 500 Blue Hills Avenue Hartford, CT (On the Mount Sinai Campus of St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center)
The 23-bed satellite unit provides additional treatment and services for patients requiring 24-hour nursing care and/or rehabilitative services for their medically-complex conditions

Description
Hospital for Special Care is a private, not-for-profit, 228 bed Long-Term, Acute-Care hospital licensed by the state of CT. as a chronic disease hospital. The hospital is renowned for its expertise in physical rehabilitation, respiratory care and medically-complex pediatrics. In addition, special programs are available in the treatment of spinal cord injuries and illness, acquired brain injuries, strokes and breathing disorders.
We also provide a full range of outpatient services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy, rehabilitation evaluation, neuropsychology and pulmonary rehabilitation programs. The hospital also includes a 27,000 foot Aquatic Rehabilitation Center, which completes the full spectrum of rehabilitation and community fitness activities offered.
We also have a 28 bed satellite facility located within Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, CT. The satellite serves patients who are medically or surgically complex and/or require specialized care.
