Are you passionate about mental health advocacy and eager to make a meaningful impact in your community? We are seeking dedicated volunteers to join our Board of Directors at the Mental Health Association of Passaic County. As a board member, you will have the opportunity to contribute your expertise and guidance to help shape the future of our organization and positively influence the lives of those in Passaic County. We are currently seeking members with expertise and professional experience in marketing, social media, fundraising, or human resources to actively contribute their expertise. We are also eagerly seeking active community members or community leaders.

Position: Volunteer Board Member

Location: Passaic County, New Jersey

Responsibilities:

  • Attend monthly board meetings, typically lasting 1-2 hours, to discuss organizational strategies, initiatives, and progress. Meetings are hybrid and may be held either virtually or in person.
  • Join one additional committee aligned with your skills and interests.
  • Support fundraising efforts by contributing to gifts/baskets or/and purchasing tables at gala events to ensure the success of our initiatives.
  • Participate in events in the community to support MHAPC.

Qualifications:

  • Passionate about mental health advocacy.
  • Expertise in marketing, social media, fundraising, human resources, or related fields.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Mental Health Association in Passaic County is to serve children, adults and families affected by mental illness through services including counseling, support services, education, and advocacy. MHAPC is dedicated to increasing public awareness and understanding of mental health issues and enhancing mental health services in Passaic County.

Description

MHAPC was founded in 1980 and has a variety of programs serving individuals with serious mental illness and their families. These programs include an outpatient counseling program, the Consumer Parent Support Network and the Intensive Family Support Program which assists families with a family member with mental illness, and the Involuntary Outpatient Commitment Program which provides case management to individuals with serious mental illness , to maintain stability so that can successfully live in the community. We also have our Community Advocate Program and Peer Outreach Support Team made up of individuals with life experience with mental illness, who serve as mentors to other adults.
