Social Media Internship for Black Lives Matter

ABOUT THE BLACK LIVES MATTER SOCIAL MEDIA INTERNSHIP

We seek a high-achieving student or professional to join us as an intern and to manage, post to, and grow our BLM social media accounts.

You will work 2 to 3 hours per week (if you want to work more or fewer hours, please see our other opportunities below). Your role will include:

● helping develop our social media strategy ● finding stories and developing ideas ● posting content to our Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts ● identifying and engaging with experts and influencers

ABOUT US

The New York Times called our nonprofit, ChangingThePresent.org,"an Amazon.com of the nonprofit world." We help channel to leading nonprofits some of the $450 billion Americans spend each year buying birthday, wedding, and holiday presents. We do this by making the experience of a donation, which you give in a friend’s name, feel like a rewarding present and a nice alternative to buying yet more unwanted merchandise.

Imagine the impact we can make together as more and more people adopt this type of meaningful giving! Each 1% of the money now spent on presents is $4.5 billion a year to make the world a better place.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES FOR THOSE WITH MORE OR LESS TIME

We also have other roles that you might want to consider:

● Virtual Internship: 10 to 40 hours per week.

Assume a leadership role on our team. For more information about that more extensive role, please see [URL]).

● Community Engagement Interns: 4 hours per week

Raise awareness of BLM issues and our program at your college.

● Ambassador for Black Lives Matter: Just 1 minute per day. (That is not a typo).

Do a simple daily task to make a difference.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR OTHER CAUSES AND ROLES

In addition to the Black Lives Matter, we are also recruiting for a wide range of positions, including:

● other charitable causes and communities, e.g., ethnic, religious, and country ● professional interests, such as communications, public relations, social media, graphics, database, technology, finance, and marketing ● K-12 Education ● other college roles, such as Greek Life and athletics.

GREAT EXPERIENCE; UNPAID

We offer a great experience and the opportunity to make a difference. However, as an emerging nonprofit, we only have unpaid positions. Some colleges have funding for students interning with nonprofits, and we are glad to participate in those programs.

CREDIT

Many colleges offer credit for internships, and we are happy to participate.

We are based in New York City, but since the start of the pandemic, we have been 100% virtual. Work from wherever you like (our most distant intern was in Mongolia), wear what you want, and don’t waste time commuting.
