Are you looking to have a huge impact in your community?

Silicon Valley is one of the most wealthiest areas in the United States, but we have neighbors who go to bed hungry every day. The Health Trust is doing their part to ensure everyone has an opportunity to be healthy and have access to healthy groceries. Every 1st Wednesday of the month, we host a Free Grocery Distribution in East San Jose from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. We invite you to join us in providing a warm and welcoming environment for our clients.

Activities include assisting with set up, unloading and moving food boxes from pallets, loading boxes into the carts of our clients, and site cleanup. This volunteer activity does require some heavy lifting (15-30 lbs.) and regular movement and standing. Volunteers must be willing and able to work with people of different backgrounds and nationalities, exhibit compassion and sensitivity, maintain strict confidentiality of all member and volunteer information, as well as follow all guidelines and instructions provided by the site leader.

Attire: This activity will take place in an outdoor setting. Please wear closed-toed shoes (high heels and sandals are not permitted), comfortable clothing that they don’t mind possibly getting a little dirty, and dress in layers. Highly suggest bringing a hat and water bottle. Gloves will be provided. Requirement: online application, and onboarding forms

Parking: There is a parking lot in front of the building.

**You are not scheduled until you receive a confirmation from volunteers@healthtrust.org**

Mission Statement

Our Mission: To build health equity in the Silicon Valley.

Description

Our Vision:

The Health Trust believes every Silicon Valley resident should have the opportunity to live a healthy life.

How:

We at The Health Trust believe that if Silicon Valley is a community where innovation is changing the world, then it also can be a community where innovation changes the lives of everyone - especially our most vulnerable residents - for the better.

As we strive to make our vision reality, we reflect the values of Silicon Valley. When we tackle a problem, we take the broad view. We rely on expertise, partnerships and best practices to generate solutions that will have the greatest impact on those we serve. We invest in projects that are sustainable, show measurable results and provide the greatest return on investment for the community.

With a strong emphasis on prevention, we focus our work through three initiatives: Healthy Living, Healthy Aging and Healthy Communities. Through direct services, we are helping one person at a time. And through policy advocacy and grantmaking, we are changing the local environment to promote healthy eating, healthy aging and healthy living.
