The SpacEdge Education program of the National Space Society (NSS) has an exciting opportunity for a Project Coordinator to join the SpacEdge Team to assist in organizing our efforts to bring space-science education and opportunities to students K-Univ+!

NSS [501(c)3] non-profit has a vision of people living and working in space, using the vast resources of space, for the betterment of humanity.
Spacedge Education of NSS has a mission to motivate students to learn how they can contribute in bettering humanity through space-science and STEM/STEAM. We work to help feed and sustain the career pipeline to benefit the future.

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for helping oversee the successful completion of various projects and events. This candidate will report directly to and collaborate with the NSS Director of Education and will coordinate organizational and management-related tasks that further the goals of the SpacEdge Education Program. This role is perfect for anyone who is interested in actively engaging in space-related activities. Your involvement will have a positive impact within the SpacEdge Education program.

Duties include :

- Align with NSS Director of Education to curate, manage, and coordinate project details and events

- Solution Research

- Strategy Development

- Team Development


Position Qualifications:


  • B.S in business, public relations, communications, or experience in a related field is desired.
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in public relations, not-for-profit industry a plus
  • Strong writing, editing and Microsoft Office skills
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Space science enthusiast/advocate for the Next Generations
  • Understanding of Project Management

Description

For U.S. tax purposes, NSS is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) educational, non-profit corporation. All donations to NSS are fully tax deductible (as allowed by your local laws).

NSS’ grassroots political activities are governed by the 501(h) election, which permits a limited amount of activity aimed at influencing U.S. legislation.

History

NSS was originally founded as the National Space Institute in 1974 (based on the leadership of Wernher Von Braun) and the L5 Society in 1975 (based on the ideas of Princeton physicist Gerard K. O’Neill). The two organizations merged to form NSS in 1987.

Widely acknowledged as the preeminent citizen’s voice on space, NSS has chapters in the United States and around the world. The society also publishes Ad Astra magazine, an award-winning periodical chronicling the most important developments in space, and organizes the annual International Space Development Conference (ISDC).
