Maya’s Hope Fundraising Copywriter

Maya’s Hope Mission:

Maya's Hope works to improve the quality of life of orphaned, impoverished, and special-needs children on a global scale.

The role of Fundraising Copywriter is to write compelling fundraisers which will appeal to our donor base and garner donations.

This task will consist of reading through one or more interviews, taking in various artifacts (photos, videos, casefiles) in order to collect together a complete picture of the beneficiary as well as writing the fundraisers. In addition, the Fundraising Copywriter will ensure all supporting materials are available at time of publishing.

The Fundraising Copywriter will also manage the overall process from creation of the fundraiser to providing updates to the public, until the fundraiser goal is reached. This will require a consistent and sensitive tone which will appeal to donors and generate strong results.

Responsibilities:

• Read through applicant interviews and review case artifacts such as photos, videos, medical files in order to gain a complete picture of the applicant’s story and ask additional questions if needed
• Create compelling fundraising copy for Maya’s Hope Philippines and Ukraine programs, focusing on children with special needs who require immediate assistance or surgery
• Produce copy for fundraisers on social media channels such as Facebook and Instagram, as well as for marketing, digital materials and print materials to ensure program goals are met
• Manage the fundraising copy production process from concept to final output, gathering translations where necessary, ensuring all published materials are marked as Maya’s Hope and producing fundraisers in a timely manner so that they may be published to the various channels
• Manage an overview of all active fundraisers and liaise with Ukraine and Philippines Program Managers in order to measure and identify fundraiser performance metrics and key trends as well as identify fundraisers where additional innovative approaches may be needed
• Be responsible for the creation of a system to streamline the creation process
• The Fundraising Writer will demonstrate and support a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion

A perfect candidate needs to:

• have excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• demonstrate skill in the understanding of cultural differences and have experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

• possess the ability to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity;
• Have excellent attention to detail
• Be able to work in systems or create systems to streamline a particular task
• Possess good English grammar
• Persuasive writing skills

Hours: 6-8 hours per week (Volunteer Position)
