Annie's House
Annie's House garden installation

Join us every 3rd Saturday of each month for our Monthly Saturday Day of Service from 10am-12pm at our Nicholtown demonstration site, Annie's House. During this recurring monthly event, volunteers will be able to support Sustaining Way through general landscaping and garden upkeep to promote produce growth which is used to fight food insecurity in the local Nicholtown area. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, however, we ask that smaller children are accompanied with an adult. All volunteers must sign a release waiver to volunteer on-site. We provide all gardening tools necessary, but suggest you wear clothing you don't mind getting dirty, wear closed toe shoes, and bring a bottle of water.

For more information about getting involved in our Monthly Day of Service event, please email our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@sustainingway.com or complete the Individual Volunteer Interest Form on our website (https://sustainingway.org/get-involved/) to learn about other volunteer opportunities we currently have available.

Mission Statement

Sustaining Way uses education, collaboration and advocacy to create sustainable, caring and equitable communities for current and future generations.

Description

Sustaining Way, a 501(c)3 formed in January 2012, is an interfaith non-profit that envisions a world where all neighborhoods, people, and nature thrive. In partnership with various local organizations, ranging from universities to churches to non-profits to government agencies, Sustaining Way’s model is built upon a unique community-based approach to sustainability that both serves members of the community while also providing community members with the opportunity to build leadership skills throughout activity lead positions. Sustaining Way’s flagship project and demonstration site, Annie’s House, is located just off the Swamp Rabbit Trail in the historic Nicholtown community of Greenville, SC and serves as a model for living a sustainable lifestyle and features permanent on-site community coordinators. Through our volunteer events, educational forums, youth mentoring opportunities, open houses, and other impactful events we bring together diverse individuals and organizations to find and implement sustainable ways to build a thriving community and environment.

We have opportunities for everyone with activities ranging from assisting with our Energy Home Visits program to testing water through Adopt-a-Stream. Email our Volunteer Coordinator (volunteer@sustainingway.com) and they will schedule a meeting with you to talk through our current volunteer needs that align with your skills and passions.
