Clothing Drive Volunteer - 5 Sites: 4 in Rockford, 1 in Roscoe

This effort collects bags of clothing, textiles and accessories to be redistributed in the or repurposed into other items such as car trunk linings or fiberfill, extending the life of our landfills.

Number and type of volunteers varies at each location:

Able-bodied Bag handlers (2-3 per shift) Remove bags of textiles from vehicle and place in truckbed. must be able to lift, walk and stand for entire 2-hour shift.

Friendly Greeters (1-2 per shift) explain process to drivers and recruit volunteers; must be good communicators and able to stand, walk, smile!

The Counter (one per site per shift) does not require lifting and may be seated (bring your own folding chair!).

Traffic Control (Flaggers) (1-2 per shift depending on location)

Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful (KNIB) is a private, non-governmental nonprofit organization with a mission to improve our environment through education, public awareness and community involvement. We assist the community each week by providing a place for them to bring their CLEAN recyclables.

Description

Founded in 1988, Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful is a regional affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, serving the residents of northern Illinois through litter abatement, increasing local recycling opportunities, reducing landfill use and protecting billions of gallons of groundwater from contamination.

Volunteers sustain and enhance all Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful programs.
