The Musical Instrument Museum

MIM Gallery Guides are outgoing, friendly, enthusiastic, and act as the public face of the Museum by creating a welcoming, accessible, safe, and secure environment. Gallery guides greet guests, assist with wayfinding, and provide general interpretive services while strolling about various galleries. Gallery Guides also ensure guest safety and security of exhibits.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Greet guests and provide assistance including directional information (ie: location of specific exhibits, restrooms).
  • Respond to frequently asked questions regarding MIM and various exhibits in which you are stationed.
  • Work in conjunction with museum security to protect items in the exhibits.
Being a MIM Gallery Guide is a flexible commitment. As a Volunteer Team Member, you can choose your own schedule based on your needs and convenience. For questions or to apply, email Volunteer@MIM.org or call 480.245.6915.

About Musical Instrument Museum

4725 East Mayo Boulevard, Phoenix, AZ 85050, US

Mission Statement

The Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) enriches our world by collecting, preserving, and making accessible an astonishing variety of musical instruments and performance videos from every country in the world. MIM offers guests a welcoming and fun experience, incomparable interactive technology, dynamic programming, and exceptional musical performances. MIM fosters appreciation of the world’s diverse cultures by showing how we innovate, adapt, and learn from each other to create music--the language of the soul.

MIM displays more than 6,800 instruments collected from around 200 of the world’s countries and territories. Most displays are enhanced by state-of-the-art audio and video technologies that allow guests to see the instruments, hear their sounds, and observe them being played in their original contexts-performances that are often as spectacular as the instruments themselves. What’s more, all guests are invited to play instruments from around the world in the Experience Gallery. They can also see instruments from music icons such as John Lennon, Taylor Swift, Elvis Presley (r), Carlos Santana, and many more in the Artist Gallery.
