A Museum Gallery Guide is an outgoing, friendly and enthusiastic individual who acts as the public face of MIM and works to create a welcoming, accessible, safe, and secure environment. A Gallery Guide greets guests, assists with wayfinding, and provides general interpretive services to Museum guests when stationed in various galleries. They are watchful of the activities around them to ensure the safety of individuals and the security of the objects and exhibits. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Providing assistance to museum guests by greeting and providing them with directional information (ie: location of café, restrooms, etc).
- Responding to frequently asked questions regarding MIM and the various exhibits that you may be stationed in (ie: Asia, USA/Canada, Latin America, Artist, etc).
- Working in conjunction with museum security to help protect items in the exhibits
Being a Museum Gallery Guide at MIM is a flexible commitment. Volunteer team members can choose their schedule based on their needs and convenience. For questions or to apply, e-mail Volunteer@MIM.org or call 480.245.6915

Mission Statement
The Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) enriches our world by collecting, preserving, and making accessible an astonishing variety of musical instruments and performance videos from every country in the world. MIM offers guests a welcoming and fun experience, incomparable interactive technology, dynamic programming, and exceptional musical performances. MIM fosters appreciation of the world’s diverse cultures by showing how we innovate, adapt, and learn from each other to create music--the language of the soul.
Description
MIM displays more than 6,800 instruments collected from around 200 of the world’s countries and territories. Most displays are enhanced by state-of-the-art audio and video technologies that allow guests to see the instruments, hear their sounds, and observe them being played in their original contexts-performances that are often as spectacular as the instruments themselves. What’s more, all guests are invited to play instruments from around the world in the Experience Gallery. They can also see instruments from music icons such as John Lennon, Taylor Swift, Elvis Presley (r), Carlos Santana, and many more in the Artist Gallery.
