VITAS is looking for kind and caring volunteers to help terminally ill patients and their families. When you make friendly visits, play games, music, provide a listening ear, and offer the gift of friendship at a crucial time, you can make a real difference in another's life.
This is a great opportunity for you to give back to the community. By taking a small amount of time out of your busy week, you can make the biggest difference in another’s life.
Volunteers are needed in Fremont, Hayward, Union City, San Leandro, Castro Valley areas.
Take advantage of numerous volunteer opportunities, including:
- Reading to the patient
- Playing music, singing, instruments, games, arts/crafts
- Sitting with a patient while the caregiver takes a break
- Making friendly visits to patients and their families at home or in a nursing home
VITAS provides training and orientation for volunteers to help learn the skills required to be an outstanding hospice volunteer.

Volunteers are the heart of VITAS Healthcare, providing friendly, non-medical patient and family care and offering support services in the office, using their cars and from their own homes.
