The Atlanta office of ProMedica Heartland Hospice is currently seeking volunteers to serve our agency through providing vigil support for terminally ill patients.
The vigil volunteer provides a supportive presence during the expected final hours of living for patients and families. This may include tasks such as reading a comforting passage, playing soothing music, or sitting quietly at the bedside.
ProMedica Heartland Hospice provides Vigil Volunteer Training to all qualified candidates at NO cost to the volunteer!
This volunteer role offers flexible hours on both weekdays and weekends based on the needs of the patients or families that receive volunteer visits. We will be happy to work with your schedule.
Our office serves the following counties and we welcome compassionate volunteers in the following areas: Fulton County, DeKalb County, Gwinnett County, Fayette County, Clayton County, Henry County, Rockdale County, Newton County, and Walton County.
All interested Church Groups, Senior Centers, Retirees, Students, and other groups are WELCOME!!!

Volunteers are the heart of the hospice team and Heartland Hospice depends on volunteers to help us provide the extra love and care that our patients and their families need at this time in their lives. Hospice volunteers are oriented to the hospice program as well as the hospice philosophy and goals of caring to ensure that they have the skills needed to assist patients and their families. Volunteers offer support, companionship, and practical compassionate help whether it is running errands, staying with the patient so family members can take a break, reading to a patient, or holding someone’s hand.
