Recruiting Organization: Idaho Falls Rescue Mission
Joyfully serving a meal to our guests is at the heart of Idaho Falls Rescue Mission’s Serving Hope ministry. It’s amazing what a smile and a hot plate of food can do for individuals and families who are struggling and working to get back on their feet. If you desire to serve your community with love and food, then this is the place for you!
The evening community meal is served at 6:00p.m 365 evenings a year and typically feeds 100-150. Each meal is prepared and served by our wonderful and dedicated volunteers. Food for the meals comes from donations brought in by our community which is then stored in our pantry and freezer. Volunteers typically visit the pantry to pull food and set it aside 2-3 days prior to their shift to allow thaw-time for meat and to ensure the items needed are secured and ready. The day of, volunteers arrive around 2:30-3:00p.m to have dinner ready by 5:45 p.m.
For safety, we welcome kitchen volunteers 9 years old and above. For teams, 3-4 people in the kitchen seems to work best.
