ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

The volunteer will provide support for the Division of Interpretation and Education in the Colorado River District (CRD) by providing information and informal interpretation to visitors about natural and cultural history of the park at the Kawuneeche Visitor Center, on park trails, and/or at Holzwarth Historic Site.

  • Actively participate in a safe workplace culture.
  • Adhere to all park policies.
  • Adhere to and believe in fostering a positive team environment, following the Team Contract for the CRD Division of Interpretation
  • Act as a goodwill ambassador for the park while providing information to visitors about the natural and cultural history of the park.
  • Attend required training, including safety, operations and park updates when necessary.
  • Assist as needed on special assignments and projects.
  • Communicate with team members and park dispatch via radio.
  • Staff the Kawuneeche Visitor Center desk or breezeway to assist visitors with orientation and trip planning.
  • Work outside at Holzwarth Historic Site to provide informal interpretation about the site and the park.
  • May assist staff with managing wildlife jams in parking lots and in roadways.
  • May rove trails on foot and provide orientation, informal interpretation, and safety messaging.
  • May assist staff in presenting guided snowshoe hikes to the public.
  • May be required to use Government vehicles for certain duties - otherwise are authorized to use their personal vehicle to travel to and from duty stations.
