Incarcerated youth of color can no longer be released just to go back into the system. This only serves to increase the recidivism rate. Take Trips MES is here to remove the barriers that prevent this population from seeking positive outcomes.

We're in search of an Executive Assistant that will work closely with our chief executive director (CEO) and complete a variety of tasks. This person serves as the eyes and ears for the CEO, connecting her to organizations, projects, and critical business information, ensuring meetings and materials are efficient and effective and serves as a trusted partner to deliver against the strategic priorities of the organization. This person is the CEO's right-hand.

The dynamic nature of this role requires that the ideal candidate have exemplary time management skills and the ability to identify and anticipate the CEO’s needs. The role must interact seamlessly across a broad range of individuals including the Board of Directors, and other interns that report to the CEO. To perform this job successfully, the individual is expected to handle highly sensitive and confidential information while exercising professionalism and discretion.

Skill set development: working in team environment, time management, strong communication skills

Key metrics: prioritize CEO's needs, be reliable, coordination with organization, scheduling, taking initiative, and being supportive

Mission Statement

Take Trips MES (mentally, emotionally and spiritually), will work tirelessly to ensure that incarcerated and detention youth of color will benefit from adequate aftercare programs and services once they have been released from the system.

Take Trips MES, was established by its founder Barbara King, who has educated juveniles in secure juvenile facilities for over ten years. As well as being an educator for over twenty years. The goal is to bring much needed awareness to the lack of aftercare programs and services that youth of color need to benefit from as they transition back into their communities.

Once all is in place Take Trips MES, will provide youth with mentors, mental health counselors, job readiness skills and clothing, travel funds, community services, parental support, etc.

However, we are in the beginning stages of structuring the organization. We are seeking volunteers for our social media content and platforms, as well as a business manager. Barbara is currently focusing on meeting with entities such as, children services, probation and parole officers, the court system, and parents.
